Mariia Holiashkina

Mariia Holiashkina is a Ukrainian illustrator, painter and printmaker, currently based in Groningen, the Netherlands. She comes from a classical background in Ukraine, where she studied academic figure drawing and fine art. She is an avid portrait painter, driven by an immense interest towards personality and the relationship between inner and outer worlds of her subjects. Her other interests include music, poetry, and mythology. Her work is a search for inner peace and natural beauty in all of its forms. She works in traditional media, such as acrylic paint, watercolour, couloured pencils and relief printmaking. She often lets herself get a little lost in the lines and textures and enjoys leaving hidden meanings. As a curious observer, she aims to bring up the hidden beauty of the world around her.
